The price is fixed when you book, from 49 € per car, so it does not change with traffic or the time of day. The drive is about 40 km and usually takes about 1 h. The same car can be booked for the way back, the same evening or the next morning.

Where Terre des Etoiles is

Terre des Etoiles is an eco-lodge of tents and a farm in the Agafay desert, known for its dark night sky. Lalla Takerkoust lake and the first Atlas villages are within half an hour.

The road from Marrakech to the camp

From Marrakech the car takes the road towards Amizmiz and Lalla Takerkoust, leaving the city by the south-west. After about half an hour the tarmac gives way to the tracks of the Agafay desert. The car leaves the road for the track of the lodge and stops at reception. If you come for dinner and stargazing, plan the return late: the sky is at its best well after sunset.

Dinner, sunset or a night in the desert

Guests go to Terre des Etoiles in three ways: for lunch and the afternoon, for sunset and dinner with a return at night, or for one or two nights. For the first two, book the return together with the outward trip and give the hour you want to leave. For a night at the camp, many guests leave the next day directly for Essaouira (from 90 € per car) or for Marrakech Airport.

Good to know for this transfer

• Write the name of the camp, Terre des Etoiles, in the booking note: every camp in Agafay has its own track.
• There is no taxi rank in the desert and little mobile signal in places. A return that is not booked in advance is difficult to arrange from the camp.
• Evenings in Agafay are cool, even in summer, and cold in winter. Take a jacket for the dinner outside.
