What is the MOGA Festival?
MOGA is an electronic music festival created in Essaouira in 2016. It mixes pool and beach stages with parties in the medina and brings international DJs, producers and Moroccan artists together for a long weekend.
When it takes place
Time of the year: early October. Length: five days. The organisers announce the exact dates and the programme of each edition: check them on the official site of the event before you book flights and rooms, then book the transfer for the same dates.
Where it takes place in Essaouira
The main stages are usually in the grounds of the Sofitel Essaouira Mogador Golf & Spa, in the Mogador golf resort near Diabat, a few kilometres south of the town. Other parties and free events take place in the medina and on the bay.
Getting to Essaouira for the MOGA Festival
Most visitors land at Marrakech Menara Airport and continue by road. The taxi from Marrakech Airport to Essaouira takes about 2 h 45 for 190 km and costs from 65 € per car: the driver waits in the arrivals hall with your name and takes you to your address in Essaouira, or to the nearest gate if you stay inside the medina. If you land at Essaouira Airport, the transfer to the town takes 20 minutes. Flights to Agadir Airport and Casablanca Airport are the other two ways in.
By road from the other cities, per car and one way:
- Marrakech to Essaouira: 65 €.
- Agadir to Essaouira: 75 €.
- Casablanca to Essaouira: 165 €.

On the days of the event
The festival site is outside the town, about 10 minutes by car from the medina, on a road with no public transport at night. The car takes you to the entrance of the resort. Most festival-goers need a ride at the end of the night: give the hour and the driver waits at the gate.
Good to know
- Coming straight from Marrakech Airport? The driver can take you to your hotel first and then to the festival site on the same booking.
- Groups of 5 to 7 travel in one minivan, larger groups in a minibus: it is usually cheaper per person than two cars.

Which airport is best for the MOGA Festival?
Marrakech Menara (RAK) has the most flights and is 2 h 45 from Essaouira by private taxi. Essaouira Airport (ESU) is only 20 minutes from the town but has few flights. Agadir (AGA) is about 3 hours away and Casablanca (CMN) about 4 h 30. We meet you at any of the four with a name board.
Can the driver bring me back after the event, late at night?
Yes. Tick "Add a return trip" in the booking form and choose the hour. The driver is at the meeting point at that time, also after midnight, at the same fixed price.
Does the price go up during the MOGA Festival?
No. The price is the one shown when you book and it does not change on event days. Cars are limited on these dates, so book early.
Is the price per person or per car?
