New Year's Eve in Marrakech
New Year's Eve is the busiest night of the year in Marrakech. Hotels, palaces and restaurants hold gala dinners with music and shows, the camps of the Agafay desert organise dinners under the stars, and Jemaa el-Fna square is crowded until late.
When it takes place
New Year's Eve is on 31 December. Book the dinner or the party first, then the car for the same evening, with the hour of the return.
Where it takes place in Marrakech
The gala dinners are in the hotels of Hivernage and the Palmeraie, in the restaurants of the medina and Gueliz and in the Agafay camps, 45 minutes from the city. Most places ask for a booking and a set menu.
Getting to Marrakech for New Year's Eve
Marrakech Menara Airport is about 6 km from the centre. With the taxi from Marrakech Airport to the city, the driver waits in the arrivals hall with your name and takes you to your hotel or riad in about 15 minutes, from 19 € per car. During your stay the same drivers take you around Marrakech and bring you back at night.

On the days of the event
On the night of 31 December street taxis are very hard to find after 10 pm and often refuse the meter. The centre is slow from early evening and the streets around Jemaa el-Fna are closed to cars. A car booked in advance, with a fixed hour for the way there and the way back, is the only sure way to be at dinner on time and to get home.
Good to know
- Book both ways when you book the dinner, and choose a return hour well after midnight: the driver is at the door at that time.
- For a dinner in Agafay, the return is on desert tracks at night. Plan about an hour to be back in Marrakech.
- Flights on 31 December and 1 January are full. Book the airport transfer early and give your flight number.

How do I get to Marrakech for New Year's Eve?
Marrakech Menara Airport is about 6 km from the centre, 15 minutes by private car. Visitors also come by road from Essaouira, Agadir and Casablanca. A private taxi from Marrakech Airport to Marrakech costs from 19 € per car.
Which airport is best for New Year's Eve?
Marrakech Menara (RAK) is 15 minutes from the centre and is the airport to choose. When flights to Marrakech are full or expensive on event dates, Casablanca (CMN) is 2 h 30 away and Agadir (AGA) about 2 h 45 by private taxi. We meet you at any of them with a name board.
Can the driver bring me back after the event, late at night?
Yes. Tick "Add a return trip" in the booking form and choose the hour. The driver is at the meeting point at that time, also after midnight, at the same fixed price.
Does the price go up during New Year's Eve?
No. The price is the one shown when you book and it does not change on event days. Cars are limited on these dates, so book early.
Is the price per person or per car?
