Essaouira and Marrakech hold the best-known festivals of Morocco, and on those days rooms, roads and taxis are all busier than usual. On festival weekends, and above all for the Gnaoua Festival and the New Year, our cars are booked days or weeks ahead. The price does not change, but the number of cars does not grow either.
Sleep in one town, go to the festival in the other
When Essaouira is full, many visitors stay in Marrakech, Sidi Kaouki or the villages around the town and come by car for the concerts. Marrakech to Essaouira takes about 2 h 45, and the same driver brings you back at the hour you choose.
Closed streets and meeting points
Around the stages, streets are closed to cars for the evening. The driver leaves you at the nearest open point, a gate of the medina in Essaouira or a square near the venue in Marrakech, and meets you at the same place afterwards. Keep his number: it is sent with the booking confirmation.

What are the biggest festivals in Essaouira and Marrakech?
In Essaouira, the Gnaoua and World Music Festival in late June is by far the largest, followed by MOGA and the Andalousies Atlantiques in October. In Marrakech, the International Film Festival in late November or early December and the Popular Arts Festival in summer are the best known.
How do I get from Marrakech to Essaouira for a festival?
By road: about 190 km and 2 h 45 in a private car. A private taxi from Marrakech to Essaouira costs from 65 € per car, one way. The driver picks you up at your hotel or at Marrakech Airport.
Do prices go up during festivals?
No. The price is the one shown when you book. Cars are limited on festival weekends, so book as soon as you have your dates.
Can I be driven back late at night after a concert?
Yes. Book the return with the hour you want, also after midnight. The driver waits at the meeting point agreed when you book.
Where can I find the exact dates?
